ABaghouse, also known as a Baghouse filter, bag filter, or fabric filter is an air pollution control device and dust collector that removes particulate or gas released from commercial processes out of the air. They are generally suited to withstand temperatures up to 250°C and have a particulate accumulation efficiency of as high as 99.99%, even when particle size is in sub-micron range. Filter bags are suspended from a Tube sheet at the top of the collector and are internally supported by cylindrical wire cages to prevent them from collapsing. The dirty air passes through the bags, dust is captured and collected on the bag exterior. Filtered clean air flows to the clean air chamber and exhausts through the outlet. Periodic compressed air pulsing removes accumulated dust from the bags with cleaning frequency and duration adjusted by solid-state timers or PLC. Dust falls into the hopper for collection through the discharge device.

Heat transfer is an important aspect of thermodynamics and energy. It is fundamental to many engineering applications. There is a heat or energy transfer whenever there is a temperature difference. Engineers are often required to calculate the heat-transfer rate for the application of process technology. A high heat-transfer rate is required in many industrial processes. The device used to implement this exchange is termed a heat exchanger and specific applications may be found in Space Heating and Air Cooling, Power Production, Waste Heat Recovery and Chemical Processing. Heat Exchanger are supplied as pre-assembled units for easy and fast installation. A tube bundle is an assembly of tubes, headers, side frames, and tube supports. The prime tube is usually round and of any metal 6 suitable for the process due consideration being given to corrosion, pressure and temperature limitations. The dust laden air enters the heat exchanger through the shell which causes ambient air to circulate externally with the help of ID fans causing cooling of temperature. Heavier dust particle drop in to the hopper and cooled gas at 120-180°C passes through the Bag filter / ESP. The air moving device for an ACHE which is commonly an axial flow, propeller type fan that either forces the air across the bundles (forced draft) or pulls it across (induced draft) fans. Distribution of the air across the tube bundle is critical for predictable, uniform heat transfer. This is achieved by adequate fan coverage and static pressure loss across the bundle.

Principle of separating dust by centrifugal force is used in cyclone. Cyclone is the most common type of dust collector. There is no moving parts and therefore it is almost maintenance free. In spite of its simplicity cyclone lost its yesteryears usefulness as a control equipment because of today's stringent pollution control norms. Therefore, today cyclone is not used as stand along control equipment. It is used as an excellent pre-collector preceding fabric filter. Cyclone is effective in removing much smaller particles than setting chamber can and occupies less space to handle the same gas volume. Cyclone can collect particle diameter down to 10 micrometer very effectively. Where dust loading is very high like in pneumatic conveying or coarse particles are required to be separated before fabric filter or electrostatic precipitator, cyclone is effectively used.
Multi Cyclone is resorted to when gas volume to be handled is high and number of parallel cyclones becomes unpractical or higher efficiency is in demand. Multi Cyclones consists of a number of highly efficient small cyclones and therefore it offers a higher efficiency than an unit cyclone of same capacity. Small cyclones often called cells are arranged in arrays. Multi Cyclones finds its application as an excellent pre-collector before fabric filter or electrostatic precipitator. It can not be used as a stand-alone dust control equipment since it is unable to limit the emission as per norm.
Scrubber wet, dry to semidry, employs liquid or solid or both in the form of fine droplets of liquid or solid to reduce particulate or gaseous pollutants or both from the flue gas. The concept of scrubbing is not new. In fact, nature has given the idea of scrubbing of the form of rain. Raindrops remove the particulate and gaseous component from the atmosphere. Probably scrubber is the only pollution control device that can effectively and economically remove dust and gas at the same time. However, there are types of scrubber, which are designed primarily to collect dust and other types are meant basically for gaseous pollutant. This is why scrubbers are divided into two categories, i.e. particulate scrubber, and gas absorption scrubber. Scrubbers are used in variety of applications from Foundry to Iron and Steel, Non-Ferrous Metallurgy, Fertilizer, Chemicals etc. In liquid scrubber gas and liquid area made to come in contact intimately so that dust or gas or both can be collected or absorbed. Gas and liquid may be concurrent or counter current depending on the type of scrubber. In case of counter current flow gas is generally introduced from the bottom and water from the top through spray nozzles as in case of spray tower or packed bed scrubber. In case of concurrent flow, like in venturi scrubber, water is sheared or shattered by the gas stream and thereby fine liquid droplets are formed. In case of particulate scrubber liquid droplets collet dust is collected either by gravity or centrifugal force or both.
